Opportunities to help

Christian Women's Job Corps Grand Prairie is actively seeking to partner with area agencies, businesses, individuals, organizations and ministries to provide a comprehensive approach to meeting participants' needs.

Here is a list of items and activities that are current needs for the participants in the initial class.

• Prayer Support

Each participant, mentor, volunteer, and teacher needs ongoing prayer support.

• Mentors

Critical to the success of each woman enrolled in the CWJCGP is support received through a volunteer mentor. Mentor training is provided.

• Bible Study

One element that sets apart the CWJCGP from other training programs, regular Bible study is essential for each enrollee, either as a part of a CWJCGP group or through a Bible study in a church.

• Teaching

Leaders are needed to teach basic literacy and basic life skills and job readiness classes such as budgeting, appropriate dress, hygiene, interview skills. Teaching experience NOT required.

• Scholarships

Many women need financial help so they can attend the training classes. Scholarships insure that they do not go without during training.

• Other Materials Needed

Classroom needs include 2 inch notebooks, designated funds for printer ink, computer paper, individual journals, high-lighters, and staples.

Designated funds for: Bibles; other printed literature; and classroom instruction materials

Snacks and beverages - cracker packs, popcorn, pretzels, cookies, sodas, juice, candy.

Monday Lunches - sponsor lunch on a Monday

Paper goods - Paper towels, paper napkins, Kleenex-type tissues, paper plates, plastic forks and spoons, food storage bags

Maintenance supplies - tall kitchen garbage bags, Soft Scrub, liquid hand and dish soap, bathroom cleaner, hand sanitizer (non-alcoholic),

• Job Placement

Suitable employment for the women must be found once they have completed their training.

• Volunteers

Currently, volunteer assistance is needed in:

1. Recruiting participants, mentors, Bible study leaders, and teachers;
2. Researching suitable advanced training programs and employment opportunities;
3. Hosting CWJCGP meetings;
4. Providing office support, etc.
